Meet Your Farmer

When you order from Brendan, you join him in caring for the planet, animals, and the health of your families.


I’m Brendan Guinan, the caretaker and founder of Fior Bhia Farm. 


10 years ago, I was working in the recycling industry. I became disturbed by how many chemicals and pollutants are involved in every manufacturing process.


I also realised the factory farmed food that I was buying for myself, my wife and kids was… simply put… not good enough. 


Three years ago, I began to transform this little neglected thicket of sycamore trees into a regenerative and sustainable forest farm. 


These 25 acres are now producing nutrient-dense meat and eggs with no chemical inputs. 


With patience and the right regenerative practices, I can now produce food that meets three key goals: 


  • Health

    I know the food I am feeding my family now is good for them, rich in the right kind of nutrients, and free of synthetic additives. 


    Healthy animals produce healthy meat. Our animals are raised foraging on a diverse diet of leaves, shrubs, grasses, seeds, and insects. 


    They do this year-round and in all kinds of weather (don’t worry, they have plenty of shelter from the trees when they need it!). All of this ensures a healthy gut biome, which supports strong immunity against diseases that might otherwise spread quickly through an indoor system.


    The end result is a healthy product packed with all the right nutrients - especially for growing kids


  • Welfare

    Outdoors all year round, free to eat and move whenever they want… the animals on my farm live their best possible lives. 


    Happy animals produce less cancer-inducing stress hormones. This is good news for them - and for us. 


    My animals are allowed to work within natural cycles, rather than pushing the livestock to meet a human-made schedule. 


    Babies are left with their mothers and allowed to wean naturally. We only intervene where absolutely necessary - nothing we provide can compete with the maternal immunoglobulins received from a mother’s milk. 


    The young are given the best fighting chance, without the need for antibiotics that industrial farms might depend on.

  • Environment

    We’re sequestering carbon and farming in balance with nature and the wild species that live in the forest. 


    We use natural composts and grazing rotation to build the soil and nourish the plants so we don’t have to use chemical fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides. 


    I know that what I am consuming and feeding to my family is not contributing to climate degradation. I can sleep a little bit better knowing that.

FAQ's

  • How do I get my box

    You can pickup your box directly at the farm whenever you are ready. 


    We are open Thursday - Saturday from 2-5PM or by appointment.

  • What Changes Can I Make to My Subscription

    You will get an email at least 5 days before shipment with the month's contents. 


    You can then request substitutions and make additions.  You can make changes to your delivery or delay if you are out of town. 


    You can also log in to the site to take advantage of the monthly deal or add additional products to your order.

  • Why Do You Freeze the Meat?

    Our meat is freshly flash frozen at the butchers, immediately after any natural curing or aging process. This ensures the meat arrives to you as fresh as possible with no degradation of the nutrients for your family.


    We use no additives such as nitrates, nitrites, CO2, nitrogen, or other chemicals routinely used to preserve store-shelf meat. 


    Nitrates are used to preserve the color of red meat and are in high concentrations of processed food. They are known carcinogens. 


    Other preservatives may keep the meat looking red and prevent dangerous bacteria from growing, but the food degrades daily. 


    Freezing keeps the integrity of the meat and all the micro-nutrients.


    Preservatives are hard on your gut microbiome and can destroy the careful balance needed for long-term health. 


    Lastly, freezing lowers the number of chemical inputs and waste in the system overall.
